INTRODUCTION | ABOUT ME

Mick's Fix Leather Repairs is the result of ten years of experience in this industry.

While recovering from a spinal injury in 2000 I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to acquire the skills I use today.  I learnt to repair motorcycle race leathers and build body armour in Brisbane.  Part of a team servicing the Queensland Racing fraternity by having a mobile workshop trackside, as well as a small well equipped workshop in the suburbs.  I had no idea then that it would take me on this journey.

The 2010 season seemed like it wasn't going to have the pace of the previous year, with Oran Park closed and club racing in NSW getting the squeeze.  The East Coast Road Race Series was the first casualty.  I can't say I've been any less busy as a result, I just spend less time in NSW.  My customers still find me when they need me, and it doesn't look like slowing down any time soon.

In 2010 I made two important decisions about my business; the first one was to take a break.  This might seem like a simple plan, but stopping work when you are the business isn't easy, there's a bit of planning involved.  A well deserved trip to NZ to watch the motorcycle street racing, followed by some deep sea fishing, and some relaxing in the country was just the ticket.  The other decision is to replace my van, which I have driven 118 000klms in 114 weeks.

If this year goes to plan I will find my way to Tasmania for the first time, and the Northern Territory as well.  Tick two more circuits off my list!  An invitation to attend Barbagello in WA will have to wait awhile, but a one race event in New Zealand is a real possibility!

Stand still long enough and I am bound to drive right past you on my way to work.

I will see you at a race track somewhere.
